Employment and Career Counselling

Employment Counselling

Our employment counsellor is a specialist who understands the labour market and knows what Canadian employers are looking for.

We can help you:

  • Find out what kind of work you can do and how to find a job;
  • Write a resume that will help you get job interviews;
  • Learn how to do a successful job interview; and
  • Understand what employers are looking for.

Whether you are new to Canada or if you have been here for several years, employment counselling can help you find work.

Career Counselling

Newcomers to Canada often need help to return to their occupation. Our Employment Counsellor can help you research and develop a plan for work that will use your abilities and interests. This is an individual process and we will begin by meeting and assessing your work history, interests, abilities as well as the labour market in the area that you are seeking employment.

Even if you have lived here in Canada for many years, you may find that the changing economy has made you consider a new career. You may want to improve your English skills and make a plan to take training. We can help you with your planning.

Career Counselling can include:

  • Assessment of your abilities, skills, experience and other qualifying characteristics
  • Access to evaluation of foreign credentials
  • Occupational Research and Labour Market Information
  • Career decision making and planning
  • Help with going to school for:

    • English as a Second Language
    • Upgrading / Adult Basic Education
    • Skills Training
    • College / University

These services are available at no cost to all
unemployed individuals eligible to work in Canada.

  The Government of Canada has contributed funding to this initiative
