Job Options BC- Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Lantzville, Gulf Islands

This program is open to all who are unemployed and meet the following criteria. Participants must be:
- 18 years of age or older and unemployed
(defined as an individual who is not self-employed, or working full-time or part time)
- A non-EI client
(defined as an individual who has not established a regular Employment Insurance claim in the last three years, or a maternity or parental claim in the past five years)
In addition, participants must:
- be legally entitled to work in Canada;
- be living in BC;
- not be a student; and
- not be participating in another Labour Market Agreement funded program.
In the selection of participants priority will be given to individuals who:
- Are assessed as having greater need of support than other applicants and/or
- Have not previously accessed employment support
- Lack of self confidence
- Experiencing career confusion
- Lack of adequate job search skills
- Limited work experience or basic vocational skills
- Have sufficient computer skills
Participants can include individuals with multi-barriers to employment and disadvantages such as long term unemployment or special groups facing systemic barriers e.g. immigrants, youth, the disabled, older workers, first nations.
