Become a Digital Mentor

Empower Seniors, Empower Yourself

Are you passionate about technology and community connection? As a Digital Literacy Mentor, you will support senior newcomers in building confidence with everyday digital tools like smartphones, laptops/ computers, tablets, emails, and online services.

You’ll provide one-on-one and small-group support in a patient and respectful learning environment, helping seniors learn at their own pace while fostering independence and digital confidence.

Who you are: 

  • Aged between 16-30 years
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Patience, empathy and cultural sensitivity
  • Fluency in English required; additional language is an asset

What the Role Involves

As a mentor, you will:

  • Love helping others and enjoys guiding seniors through digital skills
  • Give patient, one-on-one support at a pace that works for each participant
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and curiosity in learning
  • Respect participants privacy and maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate regularly with the Digital Navigator and share your insights
  • Participate in program evaluation through surveys, reflections and feedback

Commitment 

  • Two 1-hour sessions per week for 10 weeks per cohort
  • Participation in two cohorts is preferred
  • Training provided prior to the start of the program

Pay: Mentors will receive an honorarium.

  • Skills: No advanced tech skills required – just willingness to help.
