The Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS) is very pleased to introduce our new Executive Director, Mikaela Torres.

Originally from the Philippines, Mikaela attained degrees from the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University and worked for many years supporting newcomers to Canada.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and our staff, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to Mika and wish her a long and successful career at CVIMS.”

– Gerald Laporte, President at CVIMS

Coming from an immigrant family, Mikaela is familiar with the challenges that newcomers face when moving into a new country. She has also worked in the settlement sector for over 10 years, serving newcomers and refugees from various backgrounds. Mikaela has brought her rich background and experience to Vancouver Island, and we look forward to working with her and achieve more success stories for our clients and community.

“It is a privilege and an honour to represent CVIMS as their Executive Director. I look forward to getting to know the community and working together to welcome and support newcomers.”

– Mikaela Torres, Executive Director at CVIMS
