Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS) is pleased to invite the community to its annual Newcomer Wellness Fair, taking place on Thursday, February 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Beban Park Social Centre.
The Newcomer Wellness Fair is a free, inclusive event designed to support newcomers to the region by connecting them with local health, wellness, and community resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet service providers, learn about available supports, and engage in a welcoming space that promotes overall well-being.
The fair will feature information booths, community organizations, and services focused on physical health, mental wellness, family services, and social connection. This year’s wellness fair will be blessed by Snuneymuxw Elder Lolly Good and opened by Mayor Leonard Krog and Hon. Sheila Malcolmson, MLA. This year’s event includes cultural performances and wellness demonstrations, as well as educational presentations by Dr. Adam Hoverman (Wellington Medical Clinic) and Samer Qasem (Wallace Pharmacy). Interpretation and culturally responsive supports will be available to help ensure accessibility for diverse participants.
“CVIMS is committed to fostering a healthy, connected, and inclusive community,” said Angelika Valchar, Executive Director at CVIMS. “This wellness fair is an opportunity for newcomers to feel welcomed, informed, and supported as they build their lives on Vancouver Island.”
Last year’s Newcomer Wellness Fair welcomed approximately 250 attendees and over 40 exhibitors.
The event is open to newcomers, service providers, and community members interested in learning more about newcomer wellness and support services in the region.
