The Early Childhood Pedagogy Network has accepted CVIMS’s letter of interest to work with a community Early Years Pedagogist (EYP). Our childminding team at CVIMS will be working with the Early Years Pedagogist, Rachel Philips, to support and mentor the team. This is exciting news for the team and the families.

Rachel Philips is an EYP with 20 years of experience in the ECE field and will spend the next few months collaborating with our team to create inquiry that further supports children’s early year development in our program. She will be in the childminding room meeting and connecting with our families, children and of course the CVIMS childminding team!

I’m excited about the work we’ll be engaging in with Rachel. The goal is to engage the childminding team in professional learning that supports meaningful and collaborative connections, as well as create opportunities for listening and researching the relationships and experiences in the context of their work. Rachel’s practice in ECE has evolved and her knowledge will help facilitate the conditions needed for inquiry-based learning in relational contexts.  Our hope is that this engagement will lend voice as well as broaden and deepen dialogue in community partnerships regarding the supports needed for the early year settlement sector, specifically in Nanaimo. – Vania Zanetti, CVIMS Childminding Team lead.
